Day Forty-Three

Today was a bit of a struggle. After sleeping through our VERY important alarm.. we ran out the door of the hostel without showering or getting ready, in order to make it to the Louvre by nine so that we could leave by ten thirty so that we could get back to the hostel and to the metro and to the other side of town by noon to catch our bus that left at twelve thirty to reach the airport an hour early for our flight that left at three thirty that if we missed we couldn't make it home by school the next day.

So off we went.  We got to the Louvre at 8:35, perfect. We stood in line and finally made our way to the front. Once we were in we beelined for the ticket booth, where we sweet talked the ticket guy into letting us in for free because technically we were living and studying in Spain and were between the ages of 18 and 25 (European Union Citizens between 18-25 years old get in free, as well as anyone under 18).  Then we went straight towards the Mona Lisa.  She was actually much smaller than I had anticipated, especially compared to the full wall size picture on the neighboring wall.  Have you ever wondered why the Mona Lisa is so famous? because I do, I mean its beautiful and all, but why her?  Either way it was completely awesome :)  We also saw Venus de Milo and a few other famous pieces, and managed to head out by about 10:30 which is exactly what we were aiming for.

We got home and grabbed our stuff and left straight for the metro.. with one stop at the local creperie of course. We made it in perfect time to the bus station and then to the airport where I bought my first french baguette!  Even though it was airport food, my baguette was amazing, and I just love to say baguette.  I realized that it happens to be one of the five french words that I actually know, along with crepe, merci, bonjour, and avec.  Going to France really made me realize how very much little french I know and can interpret.

We finally got on our plane to Madrid and when we landed at 5:50pm we had another five hour layover followed by a six hour bus ride back to Sevilla.  Needless to say, it was a long night.

Picture of the day 1: Oh you know just chillin with Mona, no big thing.

Picture of the day 2: remember that postcard feeling? its happening again.

Picture of the day 3:  We saw this woman inside the Louvre painting this, take a look at what she painted and then look at the one on the wall.  Its amazing. And before you ask if its legal to copy a famous piece of art, take note that the one she is painting is just ever so slightly a closer view than the original so that its not considered forgery.
